History : It all started in the 19th century. XIV, when D. Álvaro Gonçalves Pereira decided to transfer the Portuguese office of the Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem today known as the Order of Malta, to the arrabaldes of the village of Crato, founding the Monastery of Santa Maria de Flor da Rosa.

Over time, around the fortified monastery, houses were erected and the village arose. In 1834 the Orders were extinguished, but we became the village with the name of poetry and a castellated palace, birthplace of St. Nuno of Santa Maria, which still preserves much of the austere beauty with which the monk-knights erected it.

Village with great tradition in the making of pieces of clay. It has 14 pieces certified as pieces of Flor da Rosa and still in operation a school of pottery.

Very rich in architectural heritage, in addition to the Monastery of Santa Maria de Flor da Rosa, two fountains of the fifteenth century and two baroque manor houses (one of them adapted to the establishment of Rural Tourism).

Also notetop are the houses of popular architecture, sunny houses, baroque style, and the Church.
