At the end of the Middle Ages, the merlinge estate consisted of six rural buildings. In the sixteenth century was added a first fortified house, replaced in 1645 by the castle of Merlinge. During the Reformation, Merlinge was a refuge for libertines. In the eighteenth century, the old rural dwellings all disappeared and all the land was incorporated into the seigneury. Abandoned during the nineteenth century, the estate was bought and restored at the beginning of the twentieth century.
It was in 1942 that it became the residence of the Queen of Italy.

The main plot is composed as follows: the castle, as the main building, offers around 1'500m2 of living space spread over 3 levels, including magnificent reception rooms. Separated by the main courtyard, a first annex consists of garages as well as two apartments for domestic staff. The second annex consists of the stables and a 4-room apartment on the ground floor. Two other apartments are located on the 1st floor. The annexes have undergone a recent renovation and are in perfect condition of maintenance.

The second plot consists in particular of a carousel, a large shed, a farmhouse as well as apartments, free of any occupant.

All the plots total 471,455 m2 or more than 47 hectares.
